CatamounTV Highlights Â
Cam Ward led the way for the Catamounts finishing with 15 points on six-of-seven shooting. It's the seventh time in the last eight games the sophomore guard has reached double figures.
Dylan Sinnickson recorded his first career double-double scoring 11 points to go along with 12 rebounds – both Division I career-highs.
Drew Urquhart and
Kurt Steidl both chipped in with 10 points.
Â
Tyler Shular led Fisher with 12 points and five rebounds as the Falcons shot just 20% (11-of-55) from the field.
Â
After Fisher scored the first four points of the game, Vermont rattled off the next 17 to take complete control. Ward finished off a nice lead pass from
Trae Bell-Haynes (five points) at the 11:14 mark of the first half to give UVM a 13-point cushion. The lead ballooned to 20 when Ward drilled one of his three trifectas and then Urquhart rocked the rim with a two-handed jam plus a foul to stretch the lead to 23.
Â
Vermont finished the first half on a 17-3 run and went to the locker room up 46-18.
Â
The second half saw more of the same.
Darren Payen started with four straight points including a big slam to give UVM a 50-20 lead just two minutes into the second half.
Ernie Duncan (nine points and five assists) canned one of his three 3-pointers to make it 55-21 before Sinnickson started to find his groove.
Â
The Middlebury transfer, after not scoring in the first half, scored all 11 of his points in the final 10:19 and buried a trio of long balls – the first of his UVM career. His 12 rebounds match the single-game high for any Vermont player this season (
Kurt Steidl – 12 at Eastern Michigan). He clinched the double-double with 22 seconds left in the game knocking down a fadeaway jumper from the elbow much to the delight of his teammates on the bench.
