BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's and women's track & field teams will begin their respective 2016-17 indoor seasons on Saturday (Dec. 3) as the squads host Hartford at the Gardner-Collins Cage.
Field events will get underway at noon, while track events will begin at 1:20 p.m. Parking for fans will be available in the garage located outside Gutterson Fieldhouse.

Last season the men's squad took home fourth place overall at the America East Indoor Championships, tying a team-record with 102 points.
Ian Weider captured first in the long jump with a 7.21-meter mark, while
Patrick Coppinger won the 1000-meter (2:28.53) and the team of
Allen Vance,
Thomas O'Leary,
Dan DeLuna and Coppinger snagged the 4x800-meter relay (7:45.95). In total, nine members of the team received All-Conference mention.
The women took sixth with 65 points, highlighted by
Mallory Honan's pair of top-3 performances in the long jump (5.78m) and 60-meter hurdle (8.75).
Amber Peirsol also took third in the mile (5:00.03). Three Catamounts took home All-Conference honors, as Honan, Peirsol and
Grace Weisbecker were recognized.
Albany finished first in both the men's and women's championships last year, which were hosted on Staten Island.
UVM also has welcomed a new assistant coach to the track & field program this season.
Kasey Hill, a 2007 graduate of Boston College, will coach the sprints, hurdles, jumps and multi-events. A native of Montgomery Center, Vermont, Hill holds the BC record in both the pentathlon and heptathlon. She was inducted into the BC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
Following the Hartford meet, the Catamounts will prepare to compete at the Jay Carisella Invitational at Northeastern University in Boston. The meet begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.
