FINAL SCORE: Vermont 75, Norwich 31
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Hayley Robertson scored a Catamounts' season-high of 17 as Vermont won its regular season home opener 75-31 over Norwich University at Patrick Gymnasium on Wednesday night. In the process, UVM won its first game of the 2017-18 season. It was the Catamounts' lone matchup with a non-Division I opponent this season (Norwich is Division III).

Along with Robertson,
Josie Larkins had a productive game. The freshman scored 14 points, her highest total in just her third career game.

Kristina White added nine points each for the Catamounts, as both senior tri-captains knocked down three triples.

Vermont put the pedal down early, taking a 24-4 lead through the first quarter. Norwich stayed within striking distance in the second quarter, with Vanessa Fleury's long three-point make at the buzzer made it a 12-point game at halftime.Â

In the second half, Vermont came out of the game strong and outscored Norwich 21-8 in the third quarter. In the last 6:49 of the third, UVM went on an 18-1 run. Then, the Catamounts outscored the Cadets 23-4 in the final period. Vermont's bench outscored Norwich's 45-2.
"I'm really proud of our team by the way we started off the game and how we finished," said UVM head coach
Chris Day. "Now we need to carry this momentum into a big weekend against a very athletic Howard team and a very strong Columbia team."

For Norwich, it was the school's first game against a Division I opponent since men's hockey played Holy Cross in 1998. Shyann Josler led the Cadets in scoring with 11 points on 4-18 shooting from the floor.

UVM stole the ball 12 times, racked up 15 assists and out-rebounded Norwich 57-32. Vermont won the points in the paint battle by a 30-14 margin.

Candice Wright collected six blocks in the game, moving her career total to 100, which is tied for third in Catamounts history with Sharon Bay '93. Wright needs just two more blocked shots to tie Katie McNamara '05 for the all-time lead. Wright also had a game-high 10 rebounds for UVM.
