Vt. The University of Vermont women's soccer program will add six newcomers from five different states for the 2017 season. Head coach
Kristi Lefebvre introduced her seventh recruiting class on Friday.

Kacey Lambertson (Matawan, N.J.),
Angie Salvi (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.),
Maddie Eddleman (Suwanee, Ga.),
Ella Bankert (Cuttingsville, Vt.),
Aly Spencer (Tewksbury, Mass.), and
Maggie Matthijs (Holmdel, N.J.) will continue their careers with the Catamounts.

Lambertson, a goalkeeper, was a four-year letterwinner at Matawan Regional High School in Township, N.J. Lambertson was a two-time Shore Conference Class A Central All-Star and was a four-year recipient of Matawan's MVP Award. The netminder made 655 career stops with 14 career shutouts. She played club soccer at Match Fit Academy in the Elite Club National League (ECNL). Lambertson guided the team to the ECNL playoffs in her three seasons with the team, including a U17 Champions League title as a junior and a U16 Champions League finals appearance as a sophomore. She has played for N.J. Region I ODP teams and participated in U.S. Soccer Training Centers.

Salvi, a midfielder, was a four-year starter at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, Ill. Salvi was a three-time East Suburban Catholic Conference (ESCC) All-Conference, two-time Chicago Tribune All-Area, and two-time All-Sectional honoree. As a junior, she was voted as the ESCC Offensive Player of the Year. As a senior, she was named to the Chicagoland Soccer All-State Team and Daily Herald All-Area Team. She propelled Carmel Catholic to an Illinois State Championship as a junior and was the team's leading scorer with 24 goals and garnered MVP honors. At the club level, Salvi played with Libertyville FC 1974 in the Greater Libertyville Soccer Association (GLSA) and helped the team advance to the U.S. Club National Final. She also played for Illinois ODP.

Eddleman, a forward, was a four-year starter and three-year team captain at Lambert High School in Suwanee, Ga. Eddleman set Lambert's single-season record for most assists (21) in a regular season as a senior. Eddleman led her club team to the Georgia State Cup Championship as a senior after three-straight championship appearances. Eddleman's club team, United Futbol Academy, advanced to the Southeast Regional semifinals during her senior season.

Bankert, a midfielder, will stay local after a successful career at Kimball Union Academy (KUA) in Plainfield, N.H. Bankert tallied 86 goals and 85 assists between her time at KUA and Mill River High School in North Clarendon, Vt. She received All-State honors as a freshman and sophomore at Mill River and as a junior and senior, she was named a New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) All-Star. She also won the NEPSAC Class C Championship and collected MVP honors as a senior. Bankert was a standout with Region I ODP and has attended inter-regional events and traveled to several international events including Italy and Costa Rica. She has played for both Far Post and Nordic Soccer Clubs and was a member of the four-time Vermont State Cup Championship Team.
Spencer, a forward, comes to Vermont after transferring from Holy Cross. As a freshman, she earned Patriot League Rookie of the Year as well as First Team All-Conference, NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic Second Team, and NEWISA All-New England honors. She started all 18 games as a forward and led the league in goals, points, and game-winning goals. As a sophomore with the Crusaders, Spencer was selected to the Patriot League Preseason All-Conference Team and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. She played in all 17 games with 12 starts and led the team with 10 points. Before Holy Cross, Spencer competed in several events with Region I ODP including international events in Spain, Portugal and Costa Rica. She played club soccer for MPS Lady Knights and high school soccer for Central Catholic in Lawrence, Mass. where she was an MVC All-Conference selection and an Eastern Massachusetts All-Star.

Matthijs, a defender, joins Vermont after a successful career at Holmdel High School in Holmdel, N.J. Matthijs was a four-year letterwinner, a two-year captain, and led Holmdel to its first-ever state championship as a sophomore and a championship appearance as a junior. As a senior, she was named to the All-Shore Second Team. With her club team, she anchored the defensive unit for Match Fit Academy in the ECNL for four seasons.

Vermont went 7-8-4 in 2016 and advanced to the semifinal round of the America East Tournament. UVM was the first No. 6 seed since 2012 to knock off a No. 3 seed in the quarterfinal round after defeating Stony Brook 3-1 in penalty kicks. The Catamounts had three players earn America East Major Awards with
Sarah Martin landing on the All-Conference Third Team while
Julia Smith and
Brooke Jenkins received an All-Rookie Team nod.
