Last February at the 2017 International Biathlon Union (IBU) World Championships, Bailey made history by becoming the first American ever to sit atop the podium at the biathlon world championship, which dates back to 1953. Bailey was the first American male athlete of any sport to qualify for the 2018 Winter Olympics with a sixth-place finish at the IBU World Cup in Italy.
Bailey, who competed in the 2014, 2010 and 2006 Games, will look to win Team USA's first-ever Olympic medal in the sport. His eighth-place finish in Sochi marked the highest placement for a U.S. biathlete at the Winter Games.

The Lake Placid native placed second in two successive NCAA Championships and was a three-time All-American for the Catamounts. In six career NCAA races, he finished in the top-10 all six times and helped Vermont to an NCAA national runner-up finish as a senior in 2005.
Bailey joins former UVM standouts Ryan Gunderson '07 (men's ice hockey) and Amanda Pelkey '15 (women's ice hockey) on Team USA.
