GREENVILLE, S.C. – Ian MacKay scored four goals and
Liam Limoges added three goals and an assist in his collegiate debut as Vermont took a 12-6 win over Furman Thursday night.

The Catamounts improve to 1-0 overall and have defeated Furman (0-1) to open the season for the second straight year.

David Williamson scored just 11 seconds into the game to give the Paladins the early lead over the Catamounts.

Limoges moved from behind the net and scored his first collegiate goal less than two minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 with 12:59 remaining.

With 10:22 left,
Rob Hudson beat two Paladin defenders and ripped a shot by goalie Alec de Bovenkamp to give Vermont its first lead of the game.

Braiden Davis pushed the Catamount lead to 3-1 with 2:06 left in the opening quarter. Furman cut the UVM lead in half with 8 seconds remaining and the quarter ended with Vermont leading 3-2. Davis added a pair of assists in the second half.

The Catamounts scored three goals in the first six minutes of the second quarter to push the lead to 6-2. Hudson and Limoges both added their second goals of the game and
Jack Knight made his way onto the score sheet off a Limoges helper.

UVM pushed its lead to 7-2 as Limoges completed the hat trick with 6:54 remaining on an easy goal following a great feed and assist from
Matt Sealy.

MacKay scored his first goal in nearly two years with less than 30 seconds left in the half. He ripped a long shot through traffic and into the net to push Vermont's lead to 8-2.

The Catamounts scored on their lone man-up opportunity and killed four man-down situations in the first half, including a minute of two-man down play halfway through the first quarter.
Charlie Erdmann went 8-for-11 on faceoffs in the opening half.

Williamson scored his second and third goals of the game in the first half of the third quarter to make the game 8-4 with 7:47 left on the clock.

Vermont got the first man-up opportunity for either team with 2:17 remaining in the third. The Cats lost possession before getting a shot on net.
MacKay and Keegan Pearl traded goals in the opening minutes of the final quarter to push the score to 9-5 with 12:15 remaining.

Dawes Milchling scored his first of the season with 8:57 remaining and MacKay recorded his third of the game just over 30 seconds later to push Vermont's lead to six, 11-5.

MacKay tacked on his fourth of the game on a top shelf goal with 4:57 remaining and Vermont cruised to a 12-6 victory over the Paladins.
Nick Washuta tallied six saves in the win.
With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate another $100 to the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington, bringing this year's total to 85 wins and $8,500.
