BURLINGTON, Vt. - UVM head men's soccer coach
Rob Dow has announced his leadership group for the upcoming 2019 season. A trio of seniors –
Jon Arnar Barðdal,
Arnar Steinn Hansson, and
Lucas Shaw have been elected team captains.
"Arnar and Lucas were unanimous picks by our players and staff to support Jon on our leadership team," Dow said. "These three seniors working together are a highly-functioning group of role models and they constantly have the best interest of the team in mind."
Barðdal will sport the captain's badge for the second consecutive season. The Garðabær, Iceland native was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team for the second time in his career last year. As a junior, he finished third on the team with 13 points on five goals and three assists. Barðdal's five goals were tied for the third-highest total in the league a year ago with three game-winners. He was one of seven players to play in all 19 games and earned the starting nod 17 times.
Steinn Hansson, a 2018 America East All-Academic Team and Google Cloud Academic All-District I First Team honoree, has accumulated a 3.91 GPA as a biomedical engineering major.
