The award recognizes student-athletes who have displayed academic and athletic excellence both this past season and throughout their careers. Nominees for the award must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and only one person can win the award for each sport.
Trumble wins the award as the representative for America East women's indoor track and field after posting a 3.83 GPA at UVM. A member of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Vermont senior majors in biology with a minor in anthropology.
"The term 'consistent excellence' should be used very sparingly in my opinion," said head coach
Matt Belfield. "That said, there is no better way to describe the performance of
Lauren Trumble in the classroom and on the track. She continues to do remarkable things, and as a consequence, makes the rest of us associated with Vermont Athletics look pretty darn good."
A team captain this season Trumble won the 1000m at the 2019 America East Indoor Track & Field Championships in a school and America East record time of 2:45.36. For her efforts she was named the America East Championships' Most Outstanding Performer. She also ran on the winning 4x800m and distance medley relay teams at the NEICAAA Championships.
