Jenna Janes was an All-Conference First Team selection and a trio of newcomers were lauded on the All-Rookie Team –
Carolyn Carrera,
Grace Giancola, and
Maris Large. Giancola also made the All-Conference Second Team. Vermont has landed at least one newcomer on the All-Rookie Team for seven straight seasons.
Janes earned her first career postseason America East accolade. She was one of the top scoring threats in the league this season. She ranked third in points (58), goals (40), and posted the sixth-most assists (18). The Baltimore, Maryland native recorded six hat tricks including a career-high five goals in a seven-point performance at East Carolina on March 10. In the record books, Janes wrapped up her time at UVM tied for sixth on the all-time points list (161), seventh in career goals (117), and tied for eighth in career assists (44).
Giancola had a breakout season with 81 draw controls and tallied 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists). The redshirt freshman logged the third-most draw controls in the conference and registered at least one point in 13 out of her 15 games played. In a 15-10 win at Winthrop, the Canton, Connecticut native pulled down 14 draws – a UVM single-game record. Giancola was also a two-time America East Rookie of the Week choice.
Carrera made an immediate impact to Vermont's defensive unit. The freshman finished her first season in Burlington with the second-most caused turnovers (16) and ground balls (28) on the team. She joined Giancola as the only UVM freshmen to start every game. Large netted 23 goals, the most by a Catamount underclassman, and racked up five hat tricks. In the season finale, she notched a season-high four goals in a 23-3 rout at Binghamton.
