Konstanze Wendeln earned All-Conference honors leading the Vermont track and field team on day one of the America East Outdoor Championships Saturday on the campus of UAlbany. Through six events the Vermont men's and women's teams are in fourth place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cannon got the meet started off on the right foot for Vermont, finishing second overall in the pole vault, one of the first events of the competition. Her best mark of the day was 3.40m. Cannon also finished second in the pole vault at the America East Indoor Championships.
- A Vermont native Wendeln earned All-Conference honors for the first time in her career with a PR in the 10000m. She finished in a time of 36:33.26. Samantha Sayer finished sixth in the event with a time of 36:56.37.
- Caulfield set a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase by 5.8 seconds to place second overall for the Catamounts. He earned eight team points for Vermont with his time of 9:04.41.
- Phoebe Koski also set a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:58.40, she finished fourth overall.
- After five events in the decathlon DJ Snide leads with a total score of 3,605 points. He won the long jump and 100m race Saturday. UVM's Alex Parasky is in second place with 3,504 points.
- In the men's pole vault Andy Chess matched his career best mark of 4.40m to place fourth overall.
- A total of eight Catamounts qualified for Sunday finals in Saturday's preliminary heats. Annemarie Martell and Caroline O'Shea will race in the women's 1500m finals. John Benner will compete in the men's 1500m finals. Lauren Trumble, Taylor Kracher and Bill Comstock will race in the 800m finals. Alex May Curtis and Mia Grasso will represent UVM in the 400m hurdles.
WHAT'S NEXT
In addition to the Catamounts in final heats tomorrow, several field events will take place, including the discus, high jump, shot put and triple jump. A total of 15 Catamounts will compete in the men's and women's 5000m. Vermont will also compete in the 4x100m, 4x400m and 4x800m relay. Action begins a 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
