BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont men's soccer program announced its 17-game regular season schedule for the 2019 campaign on Wednesday. The Catamounts will play teams from seven different leagues including a pair of defending conference champions.

2019 Schedule
- The Green and Gold will open the season on the road at Loyola Chicago on Friday, Aug. 30 and DePaul on Sunday, Sept. 1 as a part of the Chicago Classic. The matchups will be a first between the programs.
- UVM will host Iona on Friday, Sept. 6 in the home opener.
- During the non-conference slate, Harvard, Merrimack, and Colgate will visit Catamount Country. The Crimson will come to Burlington on Friday, Sept. 13 and the Warriors will play the Cats for the first time ever on Saturday, Sept. 21. Merrimack enters its inaugural season at the Division I level after officially joining the Northeast Conference earlier this month. The Raiders are also coming off their third straight Patriot League title.
- Binghamton, UMass Lowell, and UMBC will travel to Vermont during conference play.
- The regular season will wrap up at America East defending champion New Hampshire on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
- The top six teams in the final regular season standings will advance to the America East Tournament. The playoffs are set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 9 with the quarterfinals. The semifinals are slated for Wednesday, Nov. 13 and the championship game will be held on Nov. 17. The winner of the America East Tournament earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
A trio of seniors will lead the Catamounts as team captains in 2019 -
Jon Arnar Barðdal,
Arnar Steinn Hansson, and
Lucas Shaw. Barðdal was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team for the second time in his career last year after a 13-point campaign. Steinn Hansson, a 2018 America East All-Academic Team and Google Cloud Academic All-District I First Team honoree, appeared in 17 games and earned 10 starts as a defender. Shaw made seven appearances as a reserve defender last season. From his seven games played, the Catamounts won five of the matches and outscored their opponents 16-5.
Vermont finished the 2018 season with an 11-7-1 overall record and 4-3 in conference play. The Cats won at least 10 games for the fourth straight year and made their ninth consecutive trip to the America East Tournament. By season's end, six student-athletes collected America East All-Conference, All-Rookie, and All-Academic Team honors.
