Donald Macomber 1972 - Diving

One of the top divers in UVM history, Macomber, inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994, was a three-year letterman who once posted a 42-meet winning streak in the three-meter diving event.

Captain of the team as a senior, Macomber was a teammate of John Radimer, a 1992 inductee into the UVM Athletic Hall of Fame. The holder of most UVM diving records until Brian Shimel broke them, Macomber was a consistent top-six performer at the New England Championships.

As a senior he became the first UVM diver to qualify for the Eastern Seaboard Intercollegiate Championships. He attended the event at his own expense, but suffered an injury during the one-meter competition when he hit his head on the board during a dive. In 1972, when Macomber captained the team, the Cats were a perfect 10-0 in dual meets.
