Dr. A. Hazen Fogg 1927 - Baseball, Football

A four-year starting hurler for the Catamount baseball team in the 20's and 1982 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, "Chief" Fogg was one of the standout pitchers of his time.

During his diamond career he threw two no-hitters. He captained the Vermont nine as a senior in 1927, pitching five games in 12 days in one stretch, and winning four of them. Fogg never lost to a Vermont team and pitched against several minor league squads. He was offered several tryouts (four major league teams were interested), but rejected them to pursue a medical career. Fogg also captained the freshman football team of 1923 to the Vermont state championship.

Fogg was an instructor of physical medicine at UVM from 1938-40. During World War II he was a Colonel in the U.S. Army, and was decorated by Chiang Kai-Shek in 1945 for Meritorious Service with the Chinese Army. After private practice he became a medical consultant for the Veterans Administration, and retired in 1965. Dr. Fogg passed away in 1977.
