Dr. Fred S. Kent, M.D. Special Inductee - Team Physician

Dr. Fred S. Kent, a 1972 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, was "a tremendous individual who was a great help to many of the University (of Vermont) athletes over the years," said UVM Hall of Famer Larry Gardner. "A great credit to the University and to the State of Vermont," added the former Red Sox third baseman and Vermont coach. Kent served as the University's Medical Director for several years and worked closely with the University's athletic teams, as the team physician.

"He had a tremendous sense of humor which kept everyone-especially the athletes-relaxed," said N. Edward Bartlett, UVM's veteran Athletic Business Manager.

One of the athletes he helped during his tenure at Vermont was Ted Budzyna, also inducted to the UVM Hall of Fame in 1972. "He was like a father to me. Dr. and Mrs. Kent were a great influence on my life. I owe them everything," said Budzyna.
