Ed Kusiak | Click here for video
Kusiak served over three decades as UVM's Director of Track and Field before retiring in 2003. He led the women's track & field team to three straight America East titles, including its first two outdoor titles, in addition to a New England Championship in 2000. In the 2000 America East Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship, the Catamounts posted 226.5 points and topped the competition by 97.5 points. A year later, UVM held off Northeastern and earned the 2001 America East Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship crown with 193 points. Kusiak was named America East Coach of the Year three times in a four-year span – 1998, 2000, 2001. He coached numerous New England champions, ECAC champions, All-Americans, and Academic All-Americans during his tenure, including a pair of future Olympians in distance runner Judi St. Hilaire '81 and thrower Anna Norgren Mahon '96. Kusiak has coached 43 athletes that are currently in the UVM Athletic Hall of Fame. In 2003, he won the Vermont Leaders in Fitness and Sports Award, given annually by the Vermont Governor's Council.
