Foster was an NCAA All-American during all four years of his career for the Catamounts. He was a three-time EISA champion and finished top-4 in all eight of his EISA Championship races. As a sophomore, Foster earned First Team All-America honors and finished second overall by just two-tenths of a second in the 20K classical race at the 2003 NCAA Championships. He was selected as First Team All-East as a senior and placed eighth in the 20K freestyle race at the NCAA Championships. Foster won both the 10K and 20K events at the 2005 EISA Championships as Vermont clinched its 29th team title in 30 EISA meets. After graduation, he was selected to compete in the inaugural Under-23 Championships for the U.S. Ski Team in Italy.
