Joseph D. Soldano 1967 - Baseball, Football
A 1983 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, Joe Soldano was an anchor of the Catamount defensive line in his three seasons as a varsity footballer and also was a standout baseball player.
Named New England Small College Lineman of the Year in his senior campaign of 1966, Soldano earned All-Yankee Conference and All-Vermont honors that year and as a junior. During his varsity tenure the Catamounts compiled a mark of 19 wins against only five losses, the best stretch in the history of football at Vermont.
A top student as well, he made the Yankee Conference All-Scholastic team as a senior.
Soldano's athletic prowess was not limited to the football field. In the final spring of his athletic career he was the starting catcher on the baseball nine in Ralph Lapointe's last year as coach. Soldano batted .429 and knocked in 15 runs, earning recognition as a Topps All-America, in addition to All-Yankee Conference and All-Vermont honors.
