One of the top all-around athletes ever to play at Vermont, Nat Campana, a 1975 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, excelled in football, basketball and track, establishing several records in football and basketball.
"One of the top athletes I have ever had the pleasure of coaching," said J. Edward Donnelly, UVM's retired Director of Athletics and a 1974 inductee in to Vermont's Hall of Fame.
Campana set two receiving records at UVM (most passes caught in one game - 11 and most TD receptions in one game - 3) in 1953. In addition in 1954, he was ranked fourth in the nation as a pass receiver and was named to the all-state team. He also captained the 1954 football team.
In basketball, he was a prolific scorer and captained the team in 1953-54. As a sophomore in 1951-52, he scored 34 points against Dartmouth and in 1952-53, he recorded a then-record single-season average of 15.2 points. Twice he was named to the All-Yankee Conference team in 1953 and 1954. In track he ran the middle distance events.
