Richard S. Erdman 1975 - Skiing
Dick Erdman's accomplishments as a two-time first-team All-American skier have been exceeded only by his post-graduate achievements as an artist. A three-year letterman for the Catamount alpine squad, Erdman, a 1989 UVM Hall of Fame inductee, copped All-America kudos as a junior and senior - and in 1974, he was the only first-team selection from the East. That season, he also received All-East honors. He also was selected as UVM's MVP in alpine in 1974 and 1975.
As a junior, he was second in the combined alpine event at the NCAA Championships (at Jackson Hole, Wyo.), as UVM finished third as a team that year.
The team captain as a senior in 1975, Erdman was third in the slalom event at the NCAA's at Fort Lewis, Colo., as the Catamounts finished second as a team, at the time Vermont's best-ever finish in the NCAAs.
As an artist, Erdman has been most prolific as a sculptor and has gained an international reputation, working in marble and bronze.
