Suzanne L. Duprat 1974 - Basketball, Softball, Volleyball

One of the top athletes to play at UVM in the early 70's, Sue Duprat, a 1991 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, has achieved more acclaim as a coach and athletic administrator at neighboring St. Michael's College. The longtime head women's basketball coach for the Purple Knights, she is the winningest coach in a single sport in the college's history with a career mark ranking her in the top ten all-time when she retired among women's basketball coaches in Division II.

A three-sport varsity letter-winner for the Catamounts, she excelled in basketball, but was also considered a top volleyball and softball player. An outstanding student in physical education, she was on the Dean's List for six semesters. In 1976, she became the first full-time female member of St. Michael's athletic department. Her athletic versatility has served her well, as she has coached the women's varsity field hockey, volleyball, softball, lacrosse and basketball teams. She was named assistant athletic director at St. Michael's in 1986.

In addition to her athletic and coaching accomplishments, Duprat was selected as an umpire in the Women's National Open Slo-Pitch tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. in 1975. She was the first woman from the Northeast to umpire in the national championships. Duprat also served on the Board of Directors of the Vermont Softball Umpires Association from 1976-82. At St. Michael's, she has represented the Colchester-based school well in the greater realm of collegiate athletics. Duprat was a NCAA National Field Hockey Committee member from 1981-87 and a NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Regional Advisory Committee member from 1983-86. She has also served as chairperson for the NECAC Division II Athlete of the Year Committee from 1985-87.
