Brennan served as head coach of the UVM men's basketball program for 19 seasons from 1986-2005. He led the Catamounts to four 20-win seasons, three America East Championships, and the program's first three NCAA Tournament appearances in school history. Brennan also coached the team to its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory with an upset over Big East champion Syracuse in 2005 as a 13-seed. The 2004-05 team was the subject of ESPN's nationally televised series "The Season" and UVM's upset also was nominated for an ESPY Award in 2005. A three-time America East Coach of the Year, he is one of only two coaches in conference history to lead his team to three straight league titles. Brennan is the all-time leader in coaching wins and games coached at Vermont.
