"The first half was pretty even. UMass stifled us and had a couple good opportunities, including a shot that hit the post. We came out with a much better concept in the second half. The guys attacked more and were able to break them down. It's nice to have guys step up and make some special plays on offense and the guys in the back defended well to help us get the clean sheet. It was a comprehensive, collective effort today," said Vermont head coach
Jesse Cormier.
After a scoreless first half,
Shane Haley broke the 0-0 tie with a goal just 33 seconds into the second stanza.
Brian Wright setup the play with a touch from the top of the box and Haley finished off the play with a one-time strike for his first tally of the year.
Wright added his fifth goal in four games with an unassisted tally from 16 yards out in the 68th minute to push UVM's lead to 2-0.
In the 80th minute a pair of newcomers connected to close out the scoring for Vermont.
Skyler Davis' first career goal as a Catamount was a header off a cross from teammate
Loftur Eriksson. It was also Eriksson's first career point at UVM.

Eric Venezia played the final nine minutes of the match for Vermont and did not have to make a stop. Bardia Asefnia was credited with two stops in the UMass goal. The Catamounts finished the game with a 15-9 advantage in shots and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
