BURLINGTON, Vt. – Former Vermont Catamount
Tim Kelley '13 is returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach for the UVM Ski Team. Director of Skiing and Alpine Head Coach
Bill Reichelt made the announcement today.
Kelley returns to UVM following a four-year stint as a member of the U.S. Ski Team and the Redneck Racing Team.
"We are thrilled to have Tim return to our team as a coach," said Reichelt. "He knows our program first hand. With that knowledge, combined with his World Cup experience, he will bring to the table what it takes to be an NCAA Champion, both individually and as a team."
Kelley was a three-time All-American for the Catamounts. He won the 2011 NCAA Slalom Championship as a rookie and was the national runner-up in the event in 2012. He helped the Catamounts win their sixth NCAA National Championship in 2012 and earned back-to-back EISA All-East honors in 2011 and 2012.
"Having the opportunity to compete and now coach for UVM is a dream come true," said Kelley. "Bill and I got along great during my time as a student-athlete and I'm excited to bring that energy into coaching. UVM is such a special place for me, I'm eager to come back and rejoin the Catamount community."
During the 2012 NCAA Championships, Kelley was the only men's alpine skier to earn First Team All-America honors in both events.
In 2015, Kelley finished 23rd in the men's slalom race at the World Alpine Ski Championships, posting his first World Championship result in his career.
Kelley replaces Jimmy Cochran, who is leaving UVM to pursue other opportunities.
