BEFORE VERMONT: Steidl, the 2013 Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year, averaged 25 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists as a senior at Ridgefield High School ... He shot 55 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line in 2012-13 ... He helped Ridgefield post an 18-6 record this season and advance to the Class LL Quarterfinals ... Steidl, who finished his career scoring over 1,300 points at Ridgefield, also earned All-FCIAC and All-State First Team honors for the second straight season.
