2014: Represented UVM and the United States at the U23 World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy ... Was 10th in the 15k classic at the U.S. Cross Country Championships at Soldier Hollow ... Helped Vermont win the College Cup title ... Posted three wins and five podium appearances on the EISA Circuit ... Won the freestyle races at the Colby and Dartmouth Carnivals and added a win in the classic at Dartmouth to sweep the Big Green carnival ... Posted a pair of runner-up finishes in the both disciplines at the EISA Championships ... Finished his collegiate career with 13 wins and 19 podium appearances.
2013: Competed in 11 races on the EISA Circuit and was named to UVM’s NCAA squad for the third straight year … Recorded eight first-place finishes … Opened the season with a sweep at the St. Lawrence Carnival, winning the freestyle and prologue races … Also won the freestyle races at the Colby and Middlebury Carnivals … Added a win in the classic race at the Dartmouth Carnival … Finished up the EISA Circuit sweeping the classic and freestyle races … Finished sixth in the classic race at the NCAAs to earn All-America Second Team honors.
2012: Competed in seven races … Opened the year with a sixth place finish in the freestyle at Bates … Was hampered much of the season with injuries.
2011: Had an impressive debut to his collegiate career … Won the 10k classic at the season-opening St. Lawrence Carnival … Did not finish lower than eighth on the EISA Circuit … Was named the EISA Men's Nordic Rookie of the Year … Picked up two wins and four podium appearances ... Also on the 10k freestyle at the UVM Carnival … Finished second in the 20k classic and fourth in the 10k freestyle at the EISA Championships to earn All-East First-Team honors … Earned Second-Team All-America honors with a seventh place finish in the 10k freestyle at the NCAA Championships and added a 20th place finish in the 20k classic race … Missed one carnival during the regular season while competing for the U.S. Junior National Team at the World Junior Cross Country Championships in Otepea, Estonia.
BEFORE VERMONT: Patterson was a member of the cross-country running and Nordic ski teams at South Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska … Was the Alaska State Skimeister in 2008, 2009 and 2010 … At the Junior Olympics in 2010, Patterson won the 10K freestyle and 15K classic … Also qualified for the Junior World Championships, and had impressive 17th and 19th-place finishes in the 10K classic and 20K pursuit, respectively, in Hinterzarten, Germany.
PERSONAL: Is the son of Steve Patterson and Margaret Hillhouse of Anchorage, Alaska … His older sister, Caitlin (Class of 2012) also skied at UVM ... Is a dual major in mechanical engineering and mathematics at UVM.
