Krista Balogh ’02, a University of Vermont alumna, serves as Associate Athletic Director for External Relations and Communications, Senior Woman Administrator, University Licensing Director and Adjunct Professor. She leads the external relations unit for the department, overseeing marketing, promotions, fan engagement, ticket operations, communications, broadcasting, and special events, while serving as the liaison to Vermont Sports Properties. In her role as Senior Woman Administrator, Balogh is a member of the department’s senior leadership team and plays an integral role in strategic planning, gender equity, and student-athlete welfare initiatives.
Over the course of her administrative career, she has supervised men’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, and swimming & diving. She currently oversees women’s soccer as well as the alpine and Nordic skiing programs. In addition, she has chaired a number of departmental and conference committees, as well as search processes.
Balogh directs the University of Vermont’s licensing program, protecting and managing the university’s trademarks, service marks, logos, and indicia to ensure brand integrity and consistency. She works closely with CLC (Learfield Sports) and more than 200 licensed vendors and retailers.
A native of Marlboro, New Jersey, Balogh began her career at UVM as Director of Marketing and Promotions (2002–10). She was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director and, in August 2015, elevated to Associate Athletic Director for External Relations and Communications, in addition to serving as Licensing Director.
Active at the department, campus, conference, and national levels, Balogh has served on numerous committees including University of Vermont’s Sponsorship Committee, Senior Strategic Communications Committee, and Catamounts Professional Development Committee. She is a longtime member of the International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA) and the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). She previously served for many years as NACMA’s conference representative for Hockey East and America East and assisted on NACMA’s Strategic Communications Committee. She is a frequent guest speaker across campus, throughout Vermont, and at regional high schools and colleges.
Balogh teaches two courses at UVM: Event Planning for Athletics and Careers in College Athletics. She was instrumental in developing the Sports Management minor, a collaborative initiative among Athletics, the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, the Grossman School of Business, the College of Education and Social Services, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She also formalized the department’s internship program, providing students with hands-on experience across multiple areas of athletics for academic credit.
Balogh earned her bachelor’s degree in English from UVM in 2002 and a master’s degree in public administration in 2007. A standout swimmer for the Catamounts, she captained the team her junior and senior seasons and served as Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President. In 2002, she was awarded the Semans Trophy, presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who demonstrate high athletic achievement while earning the respect of fellow students through leadership, loyalty, and service to the university.
