Â
UVM out-shot Providence 12-10 in the opening frame but was unsuccessful on a pair of late power plays and trailed at the first intermission.
Â
Less than two minutes into the second, the Friars doubled their lead on a transition rush. Jankowski sent a pass across the Catamount zone for Mingoia, who dropped the puck off to Nick Saracino and his one-timer beat Hoffman blocker side. Kevin Rooney made it a 3-0 game at 9:39 as he deked into the left circle and wristed a shot off the right post into the net.
