Molly Higgins, who collected her 11th career goal, was not enough as the Black Bears (16-3, 6-1) secured the 2-1 victory.Â

Maine's Danielle Aviani netted her ninth goal of the season off an assist from freshman Libby Riedl in the 10th minute. Maine led Vermont 1-0 at the end of the half and tallied ten total shots.
The Black Bears continued to pace the action in the second period of play. Katie Bingle dished an assist to Casey Crowley who found the back of the net for Maine's second goal in the 50th minute, giving the Black Bears a two-goal advantage.
Vermont took advantage of two Maine penalties that led to a pair of corner attempts in the 67th and 68th minute.
Lauren Tucker sent two shots toward Maine's Emily Corbett (8-2) in the net and Higgins made the connection on the rebound for the Catamounts' lone goal.
