CATONVILLE, Md. – Sarah Martin's strike with 1:17 remaining in the second overtime period lifted the Vermont Catamounts to a 3-2 victory at UMBC in America East women's soccer action at Retriever Soccer Park on Sunday.

Martin, a native of Bowie, Maryland, gave Vermont a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. She collected a pass from
Caitie Green and Martin's shot bounced off the post and into the net. It was Martin's second goal of the season.
The Catamounts extended their lead to 2-0 in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.

Caitie Green headed the ball past UMBC goalkeeper Jen Nance.
UMBC responded with a pair of goals six minutes apart to tie the game up. Gabby Boehmer's shot from 25 yards out found the back of the net in the 71st minute to cut UVM's lead in half. It was Boehmer's sixth goal of the year.
Preslie Quaranta knotted the game up at 2-2 in the 77th minute. Quaranta finished off a nice feed from Fern Peters for her first tally of the year.
Neither team was able to net the go ahead goal in the remainder of regulation and the teams headed to extra time.
In the first overtime period, UMBC goalkeeper Jen Nance made a stop on a one-on-one battle with a Vermont player at the 6:49 mark. Nance was injured on the play and came off the field for several minutes, but returned with 2:11 remaining. The two teams finished the first extra time period still tied at 2-2.
In the opening minutes of the second overtime period, Nance made a point blank save on a header by Green. However, Nance could not stop a powerful shot by Martin in the 109th minute, allowing the Catamounts to earn their first win at UMBC since 2009.
Vermont returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Maine at 3 p.m. at Virtue Field. The game can be seen online for free in HD via the America East Digital Network at AmericaEast.tv.
