CatamounTV Highlights"I thought our guys were better the team tonight. We competed and defended well collectively, but in the last five minutes we unraveled and didn't finish the game. Playing a quality opponent like Dartmouth you can't do that. Credit to them, they kept fighting and found a way to get us. I thought our performance was better than Saturday against Binghamton, but we have nothing to show for it and learned a tough lesson tonight," said Vermont head coach
Jesse Cormier.
After a scoreless first half and shots even at 5-5,
Nile Walwyn broke the tie with his second goal of the season. Vermont earned a free kick just outside the right side of the box. A service by
Jaime Miralles was deflected out to the top of the penalty box directly to Walwyn who ran into the shot and drove a low ball into the back of the net with 15 minutes remaining in the match.
Dartmouth evened the score in the 88th minute. Matt Danileck knocked in a corner kick from Matt Greer to the bottom left corner to give the Big Green life.
Greer came up with the game winner with 59 seconds remaining in the contest. He picked off an under hit back pass to UVM goalkeeper
Greg Walton and was able to brake in on Walton all alone to net his first goal of the season.
James Hickok was credited with five saves in the Dartmouth net, while Walton made one stop for Vermont. The Catamounts held a 14-11 edge in shots and 10-4 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
Vermont resumes America East action on Saturday when it travels to Hartford for a 7 p.m. match on Saturday in West Hartford, Connecticut. The game will be streamed online for free via the America East Digital Network at AmericaEast.tv.
