BURLINGTON. Vt. – Bernard Yeboah scored in the 93rd minute to lift the second-seeded Vermont Catamounts to a 2-1 overtime win against No. 3 UMBC in the America East Semifinals at Virtue Field on Wednesday before a record crowd of 853 fans.

After a scoreless first half, UVM junior
Brian Wright gave the Catamounts a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute. Wright combined with running mate
Stefan Lamanna for his ninth goal of the season. Lamanna sent a through pass onto Wright who was able to beat a UMBC defender and slotted a shot past Heavner to push Vermont in front.

UMBC countered in the 65th minute. Michael Scott's free kick from just outside the top of the penalty area snuck through the UVM wall, deflected off a Catamount defender and past Vermont goalkeeper
Greg Walton. Scott's fourth goal of the year pulled the Retrievers even at 1-1.

Just 2:38 into the overtime period, Yeboah teamed up Wright for the game-winner. Yeboah collected a lead pass from Wright, got past a UMBC defender and hit a hard, low shot past Heavner. It was Yeboah's fifth goal of the season and third game-winning tally of the year.

Walton finished the game with six stops in the Vermont net, while Heavner was credited with five saves for UMBC. The Retrievers finished the match out shooting Vermont 14-12 overall, while UVM held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.

Vermont improves to 10-6-3 overall, while UMBC ends its season with a mark of 11-6-3.

The No. 2 seeded Catamounts will host No. 5 Binghamton on Sunday (Nov. 15) at 12 p.m. at Virtue Field in the America East Championship Game.
