For the second consecutive game and the sixth time this season Vermont opened the scoring with an even strength tally 12:24 into the first period. MacNeil beat Dartmouth's Robyn Chemago for her third goal of the season.

88 seconds later the Catamounts struck again to make it a two-goal lead midway through the opening frame. This time MacNeil set up her linemate Casey Leveillee for her second goal in as many games. With the assist MacNeil had her second career multi-point game.

The Big Green got one back before the end of the first period on their first power play opportunity of the afternoon. Entering the game Dartmouth's power play was ranked 10th in the NCAA. They didn't waste anytime, scoring four seconds into their advantage. Off a faceoff win Dartmouth junior Kennedy Ottenbreit was able to beat Depew for her fifth goal of the season at the 16:32 mark.

Just 40 seconds into the second period the Catamounts reestablished their two-goal advantage. Dayna Colang setup Victoria Andreakos for her fourth goal of the season. With the assist Colang picked up her team leading 13th point of the year.

After Vermont reestablished its two-goal cushion Depew stood on her head for the Catamounts. She made 19 saves in the second period as Vermont took its 3-1 lead to the third. Depew's 19 saves in one period were the most by a Vermont goaltender this season.

The Big Green drew within one with 2:03 remaining in regulation with an extra-attacker on the ice. Senior forward Laura Stacey scored her fifth goal of the season on her fifth shot of the night. Ottenbreit added an assist for her 11th point of the year. Following the goal Depew made three saves late to preserve her third win of the season.

"I'm really proud of this group for the way they finished at both ends of the ice today," said head coach Jim Plumer. "We were opportunistic in the offensive end and Molly Depew was rock solid in net. We've faced a lot of adversity this semester and this team always battles. They deserve this win and hopefully we come back and play the same way in the new year."

Following their break for the holidays Vermont returns to action January 2 at Union in its final non-conference game of the season.  Faceoff between the Dutchwomen and Catamounts is set for 4 p.m. at the Achilles Center.

NOTES: The Catamounts have now won two straight games at Thompson Arena … Bridget Baker won a game-high 16 faceoffs … Saana Valkama led the team with three shots on goal … Vermont is now 3-3-0 this season when scoring first.
