BURLINGTON, Vt. – Jack Wilson and Cal Dearth combined for 14 points to lead Boston University past Vermont, 15-7, in a non-conference men's lacrosse tilt Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field.
Wilson netted five goals and added one assist, and Dearth registered a pair of scores and five helpers to pace the Terriers. Seven other players on the squad posted a goal apiece on the afternoon.
Ian MacKay led all Catamounts with three points on a goal and two assists, while
Dyson White and
Cam Milligan added two points each (1 g, 1 ast).
Christian Carson made 14 saves in the contest to earn the win for Boston University, while his counterpart,
Jon Kaplan, stopped 12 shots in his first career start for UVM.
Both teams tallied a pair of goals in the first quarter, with Vermont receiving scores from
Matt Gudas and White in the opening five minutes. The tally for Gudas was the second of his career.
In the second period of play,
Karl Weller opened the scoring at the 10:30 mark off a feed from White. The Terriers answered with the final six goals of the quarter, including a pair from Wilson, to take an 8-3 lead into halftime.
Boston University outscored Vermont 4-1 in the third quarter behind goals from four different players.
James Barlow registered the lone Catamount tally in the stanza, as the junior notched his team-leading 11
th goal of the season.
The Catamounts cut the Terrier lead to 12-6 with the first two goals of the fourth period from MacKay and
Alex Stanko, but Wilson registered the next three scores for Boston University to close out the 15-7 victory.
