FINAL SCORE: No. 19 Albany 11, Vermont 1 | Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. – Dakotah Savitcheff and Rachel Bowles combined for seven goals to lead 19
th-ranked Albany past Vermont, 11-1, in America East women's lacrosse action Wednesday at John Fallon Field. Albany snapped Vermont's five-game win steak to improve to 9-1 on the year and 3-0 in America East, while the Catamounts dropped to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Savitcheff topped all scorers on the afternoon with four tallies, and Bowles added three scores, all coming in the first half. Alie Jimerson collected five points on a goal and game-high four assists.
Junior captain
Vanessa VanderZalm picked up UVM's goal and registered a team-high five shots in the contest. VanderZalm also led the squad with five draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Courtney Henderson earned the win in goal for Albany with six saves, while
Meg Hopkins took the loss for Vermont despite making five stops and picking up a team-high five ground balls.
Albany controlled play with a methodical offense in the first half, outscoring Vermont 8-1 in the period. Savitcheff and Bowles tallied three goals each in the frame to pace the Great Danes.
VanderZalm registered an unassisted tally for Vermont's lone score, as the junior notched her 22
nd goal of the season, which is second most among Catamounts.
Defense was the story of the second half, with only three combined goals in the period. Savitcheff, Maureen Keggins and Sarah Martin notched the scores for Albany to close out the 11-1 victory.
