BURLINGTON, Vt. – Jessica Roach and Danielle Seifert combined for nine points to lead Vermont past New Hampshire, 12-10, on Senior Day at Virtue Field as UVM wrapped up the regular season. With the win, the Catamounts clinched the No. 3 seed in the America East playoffs and finished the regular season with an 11-6 overall record and 4-2 mark in conference play. New Hampshire was eliminated from playoff contention, finishing the year at 6-10 overall and 2-4 in America East.

The Catamounts are set for a rematch of last year's America East Semifinals as they face second-seeded Albany on Friday (May 1) at 7:30 at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium. The game can be seen for free at AmericaEast.tv. Vermont has now earned playoff berths in three consecutive seasons, which is the longest streak in program history.

Prior to today's contest, Vermont honored Meg Hopkins, Marcie Marino, Taylor Pedersen, Gretchen Remien, Jessica Roach and Megan Wilson with a ceremony as part of Senior Day. This year's seniors are the winningest class in program history with 39 victories in their four years with the Catamounts.

With an assist on Vermont's first goal of the game, Roach took over sole possession of first place for most points in a single season in program history. Roach, who now has 75 points on the year, passed her former teammate, Sydney Mas, who previously held the record after tallying 70 points last season. In addition to claiming the UVM single-season points' record, Roach also moved into second place on the program's all-time assists list, collecting the 59th and 60th helpers of her career.

Roach led all scorers in the contest with five points on three goals and two assists, and Seifert added a pair of goals and assists to lead the Catamount attack. Courtney Cole and Vanessa VanderZalm chipped in with two scores each, and Alison Bolt also tallied two points on a goal and an assist to help pace Vermont.

Kayleigh Hinkle topped the Wildcats in the contest with six points (2 g, 4 ast), while Laura Puccia led the team in goals, with four. Laura McHoul (2 g) and Rachael Nock (1 g, 1 ast) were the other multi-point scorers for UNH.

Hopkins earned her 11th win of the season in goal for Vermont with a seven-save effort, while Kate Clancy took the loss for New Hampshire.

Vermont opened a 3-1 advantage on VanderZalm's second tally of the contest just under five minutes into play, before New Hampshire answered back with goals from Hinkle and Krissy Schafer to knot the game up at 3-3 at the 20:54 mark.

The Catamounts outscored New Hampshire 3-2 in the final 20-plus minutes of the half to take a 6-5 advantage into the break. Seifert registered a pair of goals and Cole found the back of the net with just 26 seconds showing on the clock to pace UVM.

Midway through the second half, Vermont opened its biggest lead of the game (11-6) after registering five of the first six goals of the period. Roach led the Catamounts during the run with a pair of scores.

UNH closed the gap to 12-10 after scoring four of the ensuing five goals, but that was as close as the Wildcats would get, eventually falling to Vermont by two scores.

The Catamounts outshot New Hampshire 27-24 in the contest and also held a 19-11 advantage in ground balls. VanderZalm and Seifert combined for 11 of Vermont's 12 draw controls in the game.
