KINGSTON, R.I. – Rylee Osgood scored twice in a four-minute span during the second half to lift the Vermont Catamounts to a 3-2 victory at Rhode Island on Sunday afternoon in the final non-conference game for the Catamounts.

Box ScoreAri Stanton gave Rhode Island an early 1-0 lead with her fourth goal of the season just seven minutes into the match.
Nikki McFarland evened the score at 1-1 in the 16th minute. Her shot deflected off a URI defender and into the net for her third goal of the season.
The Rams held a 9-6 advantage in shots at the half as the score remained tied at 1-1 after the first 45 minutes.
URI regained the lead in the 54th minute. Chelsea Gates finished off a pass from Emily Wakeford for her first tally of the season and pushed Rhode Island back in front 2-1.
Osgood's second goal of the year leveled the score again at 2-2. Her shot from inside the penalty area found the back of the net in the 67th minute. Osgood netted the game winner four minutes later to close out the scoring in the match.
Rhode Island finished the game with a 12-11 edge in shots and Vermont fought off five corner kicks by the Rams in the second half.
Ally Ramos was credited with four saves in the Vermont net to pick up the win, while Katie Nickles made six saves for Rhode Island.
Vermont moves to 3-4-1 overall, while Rhode Island falls to 3-4-1.
The Catamounts return to action on Sunday, September 27 when they host Stony Brook at 12 p.m. in a soccer doubleheader. The Vermont men's soccer team hosts Bryant at 3 p.m. the same day. The game is also part of UVM Athletics' Rally Against Cancer initiative. UVM will be wearing uniforms with pink accents to help raise awareness against cancer.
