ALBANY, N.Y. – Albany scored once in the first half and twice more in the second half to hand Vermont a 3-0 America East loss on Sunday afternoon at Casey Stadium.

The Catamounts fall to 6-6-2 overall on the year and 1-3-2 in conference. Albany moves to 7-7-1 and 4-1-1 in America East.
Vermont was on the attack in the opening minutes.
Sarah Martin set up a free kick from five yards beyond the box, but the junior could not keep her line drive from sailing high and wide of the crossbar.
In the 10th minute, Martin eyed another chance to get the Catamounts on the board. She ripped a low shot from inside the box but it skipped right into the hands of Albany keeper Chloe Borasky (6 saves).
The tide began to shift midway through the first half into the hands of Albany. The Great Danes used a pair of corner kicks to set up potential goal-scoring opportunities, but both attempts resulted in shots flying wide of the post.
Albany recorded the first goal of the afternoon in the 31st minute. Kiana Rugar tapped a pass into the right side of the box to Vivian Vega, who took two dribbles to her right and lined a shot past diving UVM goalie
Coco Speckmaier (4 saves).
After Vega's goal, the Great Danes tried to add an insurance goal before the end of the half. Caitlyn Paltsios ripped a shot towards the top right corner of the net, but her attempt was too wide.
In the 52nd minute, Albany doubled its lead after an unfortunate break for Vermont. Meghan Cavanaugh bounced a header off the crossbar, which deflected right to Rugar for the one-timer.
Vermont looked to respond 10 minutes later and get on the board. After the Albany defense knocked away a failed pass,
Anna Keimel tracked it down and fired a shot on goal, but Keimel was denied by a diving Borasky.
With five minutes remaining in the conference matchup,
Dana Buckhorn had a solid chance to blemish the shutout but the attempt landed in the hands of Borasky for another save.
On the other end of the field, Albany posted its third goal for the final margin of victory. Bianca Webb scored her first goal of the season on a give-and-go from Cavanaugh inside the six-yard box.
