JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A trio of Catamounts posted three or more goals in Vermont's season opener, but a fourth quarter rally by Jacksonville lifted the Dolphins to a 17-16 win over UVM on Saturday afternoon at D.B. Milne Field.

Shawn Ewert tallied a hat trick for Jacksonville en route to a team-high five points and goalkeeper Ben Gleichenhaus picked up a game-best eight ground balls.

Justin Rosenberg made eight saves in net for Vermont, while Gleichenhaus collected the win and stopped 18 shots for the Dolphins.

UVM and Jacksonville traded goals during the first half and saw five ties in the opening two quarters. Classmates Milchling and Davis netted a trio of unanswered goals in a two-minute span during the second quarter. Chase York responded with the final goal of the period for the Dolphins to knot the teams at nine apiece at the half.

Seniors Bartlett and Barlow scored back-to-back UVM goals as the Catamounts netted four of the third quarter's first five scores. Bartlett dished a helper to
Alex Stanko and the junior struck up top on a man-up goal as Vermont held a 13-12 edge with a period left to play.

Barlow netted his second goal of the game but Jacksonville took a two-goal lead (16-14) on four consecutive goals, strung over a three-minute span to open the final quarter. Evan Tyler netted the go-ahead goal at the 4:25 mark in the fourth period. With a minute remaining, MacKay notched his fourth goal in the Catamount-effort, but Jacksonville held on for the narrow victory on its home field.
Vermont connected on three extra man opportunities and out-shot Jacksonville 56-38. The Catamounts collected 52 ground balls with a game-high 16 in the second quarter.
