BANGOR, MAINE – Vermont has dropped two straight conference games following a 64-55 loss at Maine on Monday afternoon. It was the first of two meetings between the America East rivals during the 2017-18 regular season.

UVM only led for 30 seconds in the game, which happened in the first quarter. Maine was led by a balanced attack, with three players finishing with double-figures in points.

Blanca Millan led the Black Bears with 23 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. The Spaniard has now recorded double-figures in the scoring column in 17 consecutive games.

Additionally for Maine, Tanesha Sutton dropped 15 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Point guard Dor Saar posted 11 points, three rebounds and two assists in the win.

Despite the loss,
Hanna Crymble recorded her seventh 20+ point performance of the season. The sophomore scored 21 points (9-10 FT) and corralled four boards. Crymble has now recorded double-figures in scoring in 15 of the 17 games that she has played in this season.

Crymble was the one of two Catamounts to score at least 10 points in the game.
Kristina White contributed with 11 points and went 3-4 from beyond the arc.Â
Sydney Smith added nine points and five rebounds, while
Cassidy Derda chipped in with six points and six rebounds of her own.

Off the bench,
Candice Wright scored five points, grabbed six rebounds and added another blocked shot to her program-record total, which is now up to 133 blocks.

Maine played a relatively clean brand of basketball on Monday afternoon. The Black Bears committed a season-low four turnovers as a team.

As a team, UVM shot 44% from the field, 33% from downtown (4-12) and 81% at the free throw line (13-16). Meanwhile, Maine finished at 40% from the floor, 37% from distance (10-27) and 50% at the foul line (2-4).

The Catamounts are now 5-12 overall, 1-7 on the road and 2-2 in America East play. Last season, Vermont finished with a 6-10 record in conference play.Â

Next up, Vermont heads back to Patrick Gym to host New Hampshire for the first time this season on Thursday night. The Catamounts remain home for another game on Sunday afternoon against Hartford.
