AMERICA EAST 'SPREAD RESPECT' GAME
Continuing its dedication to fostering leadership on-and-off the field, the America East Conference and its member institutions are conducting 'Spread Respect' games. Spread Respect games were created with the purpose of furthering awareness and education to ensure equality, respect, and safety for all student-athletes and everyone in our community. Here in Catamount Country, we promote equity and inclusion by embracing all aspect of one's identity including but not limited to race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, ability or age.
ONE OF NEW ENGLAND'S BEST
Senior forward
Justin Freitas was named one of New England Soccer Journal's Midseason Best XI on Monday. The North Attleboro, Massachusetts native is coming off a three-point effort at UMBC on Saturday and leads the league with 14 points.
CLAY-MAKER
Clay Thomas was named America East Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The redshirt sophomore goalie made five saves at UMBC in a 3-0 shutout victory, his fourth consecutive clean sheet. Thomas has not surrendered a goal in four out of five outings this season.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green, the Ivy League preseason favorite, will bring their three-game unbeaten streak to Catamount Country. Dartmouth struggled out of the gate with three straight defeats, including two against ranked opponents - No. 6 Indiana and No. 24 Notre Dame, but have rebounded with a 2-1-3 mark since Sept. 11. Justin Donawa leads the team with five points on two goals and one assist. Donawa's two goals have also been game-winning scores and he ranks third in the Ivy League with 18 shot attempts. Tiger Graham has matched Donawa with two goals. In last year's meeting, Graham scored a pair against the Catamounts in Hanover. In net, Christopher Palacios has recorded 19 saves and owns a 2.25 goals-against average in nearly 320 minutes of action.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts and Big Green will meet for the 42nd time as Vermont trails 13-21-7 in the all-time series. Since 2013, the outcome has been decided by one goal or less four times with two draws. UVM will try to beat its regional rival in Catamount Country for the first time since 2008.
