HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bobcats opened the scoring late in the first period on a shorthanded goal by Taylor House. The sophomore forward intercepted a breakout pass and stickhandled around the Vermont defense before snapping shot over Black's shoulder with 1:17 left on the clock.
- Vermont responded 21 seconds later as time remained on the power play. Maude Poulin-Labelle gained the blue line and fired a pass to Picard in the slot, where the junior's one-timer crossed the line before Ives could make a save. The goal was confirmed by video review. Sammy Kolowrat was credited with the secondary assist.
- The two teams skated to a scoreless second period with the Catamounts owning a 10-7 advantage in shots and both teams earning one power play each.
- UVM stifled a Quinnipiac surge to start the third period as Black made a series of big saves through heavy traffic.
- Theresa Schafzahl almost took the lead for the Catamounts inside the nine-minute mark when her rebound attempt trickled just wide of the Quinnipiac goal. With 6:30 left, Olivia Kilberg's shot slipped through the pads of Ives, but a defender cleared the puck away to preserve the tie.
- Vermont faced adversity to end the third period with the final 1:19 on the penalty kill, but the special teams unit stymied Quinnipiac to send the game to overtime.
- UVM earned a power play opportunity with 1:13 left in the extra frame but were unable to capitalize despite outshooting the Bobcats 3-1 in the five minute period.
NOTES
- Poulin-Labelle's assist on the opening goal was her first collegiate point.
- Black recorded two saves on the penalty kill late in the third period and the special teams unit tallied four blocked shots in the 1:19 time span.
