CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – David Cotton's goal with 22 seconds left in the second frame was the difference as Boston College took a 3-2 win over Vermont Friday night at Conte Forum.
The Eagles improve to 3-5-0 overall and 3-1-0 in Hockey East play while the Catamounts drop to 3-5-0 overall and 1-4-0 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cotton gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead just 16 seconds after the opening face-off following a Catamount turnover on assists from Julius Mattila and Logan Hutsko.
- Vlad Dzhioshivili tied the game at 14:58 of the opening period as he cut through the Eagle defense and fired a shot that trickled through Ryan Edquist and over the goal line. Martin Frechette and Cory Thomas assisted on the goal.
- After a BC 2-on-0 did not result in a shot on goal, Mattila scored 3:10 into the middle frame on assists from Michael Kim and Patrick Giles.
- At the tail end of a 5-on-3 advantage, Jake Massie rang a shot off the post and into the net to tie the game with 11:59 remaining in the second.
- Cotton's second of the game and third of the series in the late stages of the second came on a one-time shot from the top of the circle on a feed from Hutsko.
- Johnny DeRoche had UVM's best chance to tie the game in the third period. He deked around a Boston College defenseman into the slot and fired a shot on Edquist, who made a nice shoulder save.
NOTES
- Dzhioshvili recorded his first collegiate goal at 14:58 of the first period. Frechette picked up his first collegiate assist on the Russian's goal.
- Stefanos Lekkas (27 saves) passed Andrew Allen '01 for seventh on the all-time Catamount saves leaderboard. He now has 2,161 career saves.
- UVM went 1-for-5 on the power play while BC was held in check, going 0-for-3 on the man advantage.
