MACON, Ga. – The Vermont men's lacrosse team tallied 11 goals, including a pair each from
Rob Hudson,
Liam Limoges, and
Liam Rischmann, to take an 11-3 win over the Mercer Bears Saturday afternoon in Macon, Georgia.

Vermont improves to 2-0 overall while Mercer falls to 0-1 in the 2018 season.

After allowing a quick goal early in the contest, Vermont struck for four straight through the remainder of the first half to take a 4-1 lead into the break. Goals from Hudson, Rischmann,
Jack Knight and
Dawes Milchling gave Vermont the three-goal lead.

In the third quarter, goals from Limoges and Hudson were separated by a Mercer goal from Matt Quinn.
Ben French assisted on the Limoges goal.

Matt Hughes cut the Vermont lead to 6-3 with a goal eight seconds into the final quarter, but UVM went on its second five-goal streak of the game to close out the game and take an 11-3 win in Georgia.

French tallied his first goal of the season with 13:17 remaining in the game.
Ian MacKay extended his point streak to 48 straight games after scoring Vermont's final goal with 55 seconds remaining.

Vermont has concluded its southern swing with a pair of wins over Furman and Mercer for the second straight year.

With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate another $100 to the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington, bringing this year's total to 87 wins and $8,700.

Vermont returns to the Northeast and takes on Fairfield on Saturday, Feb. 10. The game against the Stags is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. at Conway Field. It is the season opener for Fairfield and Vermont's third straight game against a team beginning its 2018 season.
