BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University of Vermont women's cross country team raced to a second place finish in the Stampede Invitational hosted by the University of Buffalo Friday afternoon.
Lauren Trumble,
Maggie Hallahan, and
Samantha Sayer earned top 10 finishes as the Catamounts (50 pts.) finished narrowly behind Cornell (40 pts.). UConn (77 pts.) rounded out the top three teams.

Matt Belfield. "The conditions dictated that we be more reserved early and the women were patient and focused. Frankly, it's the best executed race by a women's team in my time at UVM."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trumble set a personal-best 21:56.1 in the 6K (3.72 miles) for fourth place, beating her previous record by 25.9 seconds.
- Hallahan also raced to a personal record of 22:00.1 for sixth place overall
- Sayer (8th) rounded out the top-10 overall finishers for the Catamounts with a time of 22:07.0
- Caroline O'Shea (11th) and Konstanze Wendeln (22nd) finished in Vermont's top five in their 6K debuts with times of 22:10.6 and 22:41.8, respectively.

The UVM cross country squad returns to action Saturday (Sep. 15) as they travel down Route 7 to Middlebury's Aldrich Invitational. The race is scheduled for 1 p.m.
