COACH'S QUOTE
"We had some good races from several individuals. Tyler bounced back with a solid race, John and Ian ran personal times, Neville and Jack ran tough producing good finishes as well," said associate head coach
Joe Gingras. "Team-wise, we beat the teams we should have, but didn't knock off the ranked teams ahead of us. Given the strength of the field, it was a good performance, but we have high expectations for the season and were looking for a little more. Having said that, we had a lot of guys step up into the top five today who were not last time out and got it done for us."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marshall's time led the Catamounts and claimed 88th in the overall competition while Jack Carmody (96th) finished shortly after.
- Junior Neville Caulfield (106th) was the third UVM runner to finish with a time of 25:55.
- John Benner (107th) recorded a new personal-best with a time of 25:56, eclipsing the previous mark by three seconds.
- Ian Denis (109th) rounded out Vermont's scorers with a time of 25:58, also a personal-best, which was a 17-second improvement.
