AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Vermont men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Minuteman Invitational Saturday morning against UMass and UConn.
In the women's race
Caroline O'Shea and
Konstanze Wendeln locked up the top two spots individually as the Catamounts (43 pts.) finished second behind UConn (33 pts.) and ahead of the host Minutewomen (52 pts.). The UVM men (74 pts.) placed third behind UMass (25 pts.) and UConn (34 pts.).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- O'Shea finished first overall with a personal best 18:12.99 in the women's 5K while Wendeln followed shortly after with a time of 18:19.33. The two Catamounts beat out the third-place finisher by 12.29 and 5.97 seconds, respectively.
- Sophie Doman also placed in the top-10 with a time of 18:42.01 for the ninth overall spot.
- Steven O'Driscoll was the first Catamount to finish in the men's 6K with a time of 19:55.43.
- Rookies Christian Groff (12th) and Stephen Looke (16th) rounded out Vermont's top three finishers.

The UVM women return to action next Friday (Sep. 14) at the UB Stampede Invite in Buffalo, NY. The women's race begins at 11 a.m.
