WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford scored 24 points in the second half off Vermont turnovers to lead the Hawks to a 61-32 win in America East action from Chase Arena Saturday afternoon. With the win Hartford improves to 10-7 overall and 3-0 in America East, while the Catamounts fell to 5-11 and 1-3 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the opening minutes with field goals from Rose Caverly, Courtney Wright and Hanna Crymble. The Hawks responded scoring off of their pressure sets, they had seven steals in the opening ten minutes and converted the chances into four points. Sarah Wells hit a three-pointer late in the quarter to give the Catamounts a 12-11 advantage heading to the second frame.
- Hartford closed the second quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 23-18 lead into halftime.
- Kelly Douglass and Ella Awobajo hit three-pointers early in the second half as Hartford started the third quarter on a 14-0 run.
- With 23 seconds left in the third quarter Candice Wright blocked a shot from Jordan McLemore for her second of the afternoon. With the block she established a new program record with 51 blocks on the year.
- The Hawks outscored Vermont 14-7 in the fourth quarter to close out their America East home opener with a win.
