HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was closely contested between the two teams with neither team leading by more than four. Vermont continued to thrive on balanced scoring with six players helping them build a 21-18 advantage. Courtney Wright was the Catamounts leading scorer in the half with five points.
- The Bearcats took the lead with back-to-back three pointers late in the third quarter from Kai Moon and Karlee Krchnavi. Moon was a perfect five-for-five from downtown on the afternoon. Moon added two free throws late in the third to give Binghamton a 35-33 edge on 12 points from Moon heading to the fourth quarter.
- With 1:36 left in regulation Olivia Ramil hit a layup to give the Bearcats a game-high six-point edge. With 20.1 seconds left Rose Caverly calmly stepped up and hit two free throws to make it a two-point game. Vermont immediately fouled Kai Moon, she hit just one of two giving the Catamounts a chance.
- With 18.7 seconds left the Catamounts called a timeout to advance the ball. Hanna Crymble inbounded the ball to Candice Wright and then set a quick screen for Josie Larkins who stepped up and nailed her third three-pointer of the night to tie things up at 52.
- Candice Wright smothered Carly Boland as she tried to get a game-winning shot off in regulation forcing overtime for the first time for both clubs this season.
- The Catamounts scored all six of their overtime points from the free throw line to hold a 58-57 lead with 8.3 seconds left. Krchnavi missed a three-pointer and a put back opportunity in the dying seconds as Vermont held on for the win.
