WINTER STORM KEEPS THE CATAMOUNTS ON THE ROAD
Due to the effects of winter storm Harper the Catamounts have been on the road since leaving for Binghamton last Friday. The significant snowfall caused Vermont to stay in Binghamton Saturday and Sunday night before bussing to Maryland on Monday.

WORKING OVERTIME
On Saturday the Catamounts defeated Binghamton 58-57 in overtime to return to .500 in America East play and move into fifth place in the standings. It was the Catamounts first overtime game since defeating Hartford 76-70 in double overtime on February 4, 2017. Vermont is now 17-20 all-time in overtime games.

LARKINS AND HANDY COMING TO PLAY IN JANUARY
Josie Larkins and Lauren Handy have been key contributors for the Catamounts in conference play. Larkins has averaged 8.3 PPG, including 11 points in the Catamounts OT win over Binghamton. Handy has averaged 8.2 PPG coming off the bench for Coach Kresge in America East action.

CRYMBLE LEADING THE WAY
Junior forward Hanna Crymble leads the Catamounts in scoring with 15.7 PPG. She is fourth in America East in scoring. She has been Vermont's leading scorer in 14 of the Catamounts 18 games. She is shooting 52.8% from the field this season which is the second-best mark in America East. She is also shooting 86.3% from the free throw line, which is the best mark in the league.

WRIGHT BLOCK PARTY
Candice Wright is Vermont's all-time block leader with 197 career blocks. She is averaging 3.2 blocks per game, which is tied for fourth in the NCAA. As a team Vermont is eighth in the NCAA averaging 5.9 blocks per game.

FORMER CATAMOUNT NOW IN THE BLACK AND GOLD
Courtnay Pilypaitis, an assistant coach in her third season at UMBC, was one of the most prolific players in Catamount school history finishing with 1,993 points scored, 905 rebounds, and 636 assists. She led the Catamounts to back-to-back America East Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. The four-time all-conference selection helped Vermont earn their first ever NCAA Tournament win with an upset against Wisconsin in 2010.

SCOUTING UMBC
After starting the season 6-0 for the first time in program history the Retrievers have struggled. They have won just one game in their last 12, a 73-68 decision at Morgan St. on December 20.

In conference play UMBC has averaged just 48.0 points-per-game while giving up a league worst 69.6 points-per-game. However in the Retrievers two home conference games UMBC has averaged 53.5 points.

Sophomore forward Janee'a Summers leads the team in scoring averaging 11.8 points-per-game. She is the only Retriever to start all 18 games this season. Last season Vermont held her to six points in 61 minutes of game action.

SERIES HISTORY
The Retrievers lead the all-time series 18-15 against the Catamounts. UMBC has won eight of the last nine matchups between the teams. Vermont's sole win over that stretch was January 6, 2018 at UMBC a 72-58 decision. Hanna Crymble had a game-high 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field in what was one of UVM's two road wins last season.
