BURLINGTON, Vt. – Maine's Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup talled the first and last goals of the night to lift the Maine Black Bears (4-2-0, 1-1-0 HEAM) to their first Hockey East win of the season over the Vermont Catamounts (1-2-0, 0-1-0 HEAM) on Rally Against Cancer Night presented by Inspired Closets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schmidt-Svejstrup opened the scoring at 14:32 of the first period. The Black Bears won an offensive zone faceoff to the right of Stefanos Lekkas (30 saves) and Tim Doherty found Schmidt-Svejstrup open in the slot, where he tallied his third goal of the season.
- Joey Cipollone tied the game at 1-1 with 14:48 to play in the third period. The sophomore batted a rebound from Andrew Lucas past Maine goalie Jeremy Swayman (31 saves) from the right hash mark. William Lemay assisted on the goal with Lucas.
- Schmidt-Svejstrup scored his second goal of the game on the power play with 6:21 left to play in the third period. Levi Kleiboer and Emil Westerlund assisted on the eventual game-winning goal.
- The Catamounts pulled Lekkas with 1:20 to play in a last effort to tie the game at 2-2. However, Maine held on defensively for the 2-1 conference win.

- Transfer Thomas Beretta made his Catamount debut against the Black Bears. He finished the game with one shot on goal.
- Lemay recorded his first collegiate point with the assist on Cipollone's goal.
